The Copeland Engineering TOP H.A.T© eliminates dead batteries caused by forgotten electrical equipment such as terminals and radios. This self-contained product features both voltage sensing and ignition sensing options for activation. It also features programmable times ranging from 15 minutes to 30 hours. INSTALLATION TOP H.A.T© is installed at any convenient location in the vehicle and wired according to the drawing below. In the auto sense mode (YELLOW wire not connected) TOP H.A.T© senses the charging system pick-up (engine running) to turn equipment on. TOP H.A.T© starts timing when the engine stops. If the "auto sense" mode is chosen, be sure to tape the YELLOW wire to prevent accidental grounding. If the YELLOW wire is connected to a circuit that is hot when the ignition switch is on, your equipment will come on immediately with the ignition. This configuration is recommended for emergency service vehicles to guarantee equipment operation in the event of alternator failure.
SETTING TIME DELAY: The time delay switches are on the bottom of the box. Using the table, the total delay is the sum of the time set for each switch placed "ON". All other switches are in the "OFF" position. (If all switches are off, the delay time is approximately 4 seconds. This mode can be used as a quick installation check.) TIME DELAY SWITCH VALUES
After setting the desired time, place one of the enclosed labels over the switches. TOP H.A.T is covered by a 2 year exchange warranty. |
